GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY

ROTHLEY

VIGIL REPORT 15-09-07

Time started 11pm    Time finished    2:30am ; Weather: cool turning cold & damp, clear starry  night, no moon.

The team members present were:

David & Helen       Paul & Wendy     Paul W     Eileen    + Craig from the GCR Trust

For this vigil we stayed as 1 team as the location is quite small and compact. Craig Hughes, a paranormal investigator for the railways trust also joined the team for the evening.

We used the general waiting area as base. Dave & Paul  decided that the trigger objects were to be set up in the tearoom, as this has been a place of  paranormal activity before. The trigger objects consisted of two buttons, a toy car & a toy plane with two marbles resting against its wings, also placed in the room was a voice recorder. All the trigger objects were placed onto the counter of the tearoom & covered in talc (this allows us to identify any movements or interference with the objects). Craig accompanied both Dave & Paul & was the last to leave, locking the door behind him, May we point out that Craig was the only person with a set of keys for the location. A locked off video camera was placed in the room. Unfortunately no activity was recorded, to do with the trigger objects.

On the northern line platform, heading for the work shed, Helen felt drawn to the last bench . She said that she felt the presence of a little boy, David also said he was feeling the same and came up with the name of Rupert. He was described as being about 7 or 8 and dressed in 1930's clothing. He seemed to be waiting patiently for some one. Eileen said that she felt the presence of a little girl.

Along the other opposite side of the platform to the seating area David sensed that at some point there was a body laying across the line & there seemed to be a air of confusion about how it came to be there, at this point Paul  joined him and felt the same. The name of Morris Baker was given. Eileen said that she felt as if someone was pushing her away from the edge of the platform, as if this person wanted a better look. Were they wanting to look at the body on the line?

Paul  felt drawn to the wooded area up the embankment adjacent to where the body on the line was sensed. Craig accompanied Paul up the embankment to take photos. They then returned to the line. Dave & Paul went onto the tracks both saying that they felt the area around them felt colder than anywhere else, this also was felt by Craig who hovered his hands just above the ground; a definite cold spot was felt where the body on the line was sensed. Both Paul & Dave felt that there was something not right with the body and sensed that the gent did not meet his end there, it was just made to look like a suicide, Paul felt that the wooded area played a part in this. Craig could not verify this at this point but is looking into it.

As the team moved further down the line they came to the point where the old signal box once stood over a century ago. Many photos were taken at this area and Eileen captured a very peculiar one. Both Dave & Paul W went along the side of a train to the point where the signal box once stood ,with Dave asking spirit to come forward. He asked if the spirit of the gentleman was present could he give us a sign by knocking on the side of the carriage. At this point a loud tapping was heard, this has been captured on video. After a few more moments spent in this area Paul W said that he heard music being played, the nearest house was of some distance, and he asked Wendy if she could hear this too, unfortunately Wendy couldn’t we. cannot count this as paranormal as sound travels some distance in open spaces. Eileen commented that she felt as if there was a  man along the side of the train, she took a picture which showed  an orb.

Activity was also captured by photo on the disused staircase, the presence of a gentleman was felt and the name Percy given. A noise representing the movement of a suitcase was also heard by 3 team members.

This is only a brief report of the vigil, more activity was experienced by all and some very interesting pictures were taken. We will definitely be revisiting Rothley station next year.
